I finally made it to Lesotho and joined my team for a few days of ministry in the village. The experience is quite unlike anything else I’ve encountered this far! So here is an overview of our last day in the village.

We left around 9am and hiked about an hour to get down to village. We have to cross a few streams and make our way down several rocky hills. It makes for great conversation time!

After arriving in the village, we walked to Cecila’s house. She is a woman who, at the beginning of the month, had a lot of back pain and was pretty much bent over. On previous visits, some of my teammates had been able to talk and pray healing over her. Afterwards, she was pain free. Upon seeing her again on this last day, we prayed again for full healing, believing she would be able to stand straight. Bethany prayed and proclaimed Luke 13:10-13, a passage she had been reading that morning.

“He was teaching in one of the meeting places on the Sabbath. There was a woman present, so twisted and bent over with arthritis that she couldn’t even look up. She had been afflicted with this for eighteen years. When Jesus saw her, he called her over. “Woman, you’re free!” He laid hands on her and suddenly she was standing straight and tall, giving glory to God.”

As we said our goodbyes to Cecila, she said, “I’m healed!” And gave praise to the Lord.

We walked up the hill from her house to an other family’s house. We got to make “fat cakes” which are basically fried bread dough, but oh so delicious!

Dosson and I were on duty to help cook the traditional porridge. We stirred the pot and kept the firing going, although it did go out once and the woman got on her hands and knees to blow on the coals to revive the flames.

We played with the children that gathered around. Two little girls played with my hair and sat in my lap. I picked them up and we spun around and then I would flipped them upside down. Here is one of the precious girls.

By now, it was after noon and we had one last stop to make before heading back home, to visit the village chief, Anna. Early in the month, the chief had complained about pain in her ankle from a sprain. My team prayed healing for her and she had no more pain and could move her ankle all around. When we saw her on this last day, she showed us how she could dance again! We sat her for a little while and just talked. She showed us the book she was reading.

Brittany thanked her for the opportunity to come and visit her village. She told Mac to tell everyone back home how he rode her donkey. Before we left, Thomas asked if we could play a song and dance with her. Dosson queued the music and we had our own little dance party right then and there. It was great!

After that, we made the hour long uphill trek home. The views are beautifully breathtaking. I wish I would have had more time visiting the village, but I’m so grateful for the few days I did have there!
