We partnered with a ministry in Georgetown, Penang. We spent Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays volunteering at Kawan [friend in Malay], a center that provides the homeless community with breakfast and lunch, as well as a place to rest and shower.
The day before we arrived, Penang experienced some of the worst flooding in the country’s history. The Kawan Center received countless donations of food, water, clothing, toiletries, cleaning supplies, bedding, the list is really endless! After organizing, we made bags that we were able to pass out to Myanmar refugees that were effected in a nearby village.
After donations slowed down, somehow, someway [mostly because the Lord was asking me to do something I wouldn’t normally choose to do] I ended up spending most mornings helping out in the kitchen.
