We had just been a part of an incredible church service at Entumbane Presbyterian Church in Zimbabwe. We spent the morning worshiping and in the Word. Then we were sent out to evangelize in the neighborhood for 20 minutes. What a way to do church!

We took a taxi bus back into town where Derek, Brittany, Teresa and I were then dropped off to wait for a taxi. There was a guy sitting there on the curb, Liberty is his name. He talked to us about Victoria Falls, his hometown, and we talked to him about our trip. Then Teresa, as she does, jumped into real talk.

“How long have you been drinking alcohol?”

“Today? Or in my life? About 10 years.”

“Do you want to be free? Jesus wants you to be free!”

“Me? I can change? I can really change?”

“Yes, through Jesus’s power, He can change you. We can pray and ask God to change you if you want to commit your life to Him.”

Liberty quickly took a few last drags of his cigarette before putting it out and joining us for prayer. Liberty prayed to be free from alcohol. Liberty asked Jesus to be Lord of his life. Liberty prayed to receive the Holy Spirit. We then all celebrated together.

“I am a new creation. I’m not going back. The devil was with me but now he’s scared. I will crush him.”

Liberty immediately started preaching the Word and talking about the Apostle Paul. It was incredible; the transformation happened right in front of me. You never know what opportunities the Lord has for us to share the Good News of Jesus. Make the most of every one!
