“La casita de Noe” (Noe´s house) is the phrase I use to tell people where gatherings will take place on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Noe’s house is not what we picture a church would look like but it is in fact where people come to worship, hear God’s message and pray. Since it’s ground breaking, Zeo and Agapetos have been doing a lot of street evangelism to get the word out about this new “church”.
On Tuesday, only a family of three locals showed up for service but they left after the songs were done and did not stick around to hear the message. As a result, the only ones in the congregation were eleven WRers and Noe’s family. But fittingly, the message that James prepared was appropriately directed towards WRers. James did not plan this, God did. Nonetheless, some of us were feeling quite defeated and disappointed, as some felt that their street outreach efforts were futile. This dissatisfaction created motivation; a motivation to pray and to seek God. In addition to this motivation, Alissa’s cry out for help for intercessory prayer later that evening, ignited a hunger for prayer within the teams Zeo and Agapetos. So on Wednesday, both teams spent a lot of time praying over this ministry.
When Thursday evening rolled around, we didn’t do the two hour street outreach prior to the evening service, as we typically do. But we used that time to be in prayer. 6PM rolled around and no one came. Our intercessors were strategically placed in the neighborhood and others began to invite the passersby in as the service began with Noe leading worship/praise. Seemingly, every passerby that I said “pasa le” or “
come in” to, did in fact come in. By the time Mallorie began to deliver the message about “Freedom”, we had a full house. It was so easy!
Indeed, His burden is light and His yoke is easy! (Matt 11:30). This reminds me that if we do not take matters into our own hands and do not try to control our situation but leave it for God and do what He asks of us, then your difficult situation will become easy and the results will far exceed your expectations. Is there something in your life that you are trying to make work but the more you try to control it the more frustrated you are getting? How about leaving it for God?
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God Phil 4:6
