As some of you may know, I went home for a week from the race. I got to enjoy American fast food, the beautiful convenience of driving my car, and I went to TARGET (twice.)

I am a huge fan of get all you need in a one stop store like Target, especially Target stores that have a Starbucks coffee shop inside. That’s beside the point though.

After purchasing some much needed goodies, I walked to my car and saw a woman begging in the parking lot. She came to me keeping her distance, out of fear of coming off aggressive, I think, and mumbled some words. I didn’t quite know what to do so I got in my car, closed the door and put my things in the passenger seat. I sat for a moment, thought another second, grabbed my keys and exited my car.

The woman had turned away believing that I had ignored her, which I had partially. Next I knew I was walking towards her,

“Excuse me can I pray for you?”

She was shocked, but answered with a simple,

 “Yes, baby you can.”

I prayed over her asking that God would provide her needs, break addictions and unhealthy cycles in her life, that she would feel His love and favor upon her that day. When I finished praying I opened my eyes only to see tears falling from hers.

At that moment a car pulled up alongside her and handed her some cash. She thanked them as they drove away then turned to me and said,

“Thank you baby. You need prayer more than money. I was getting real low and I needed that.”

“What your name?” I asked.

“Donna.”

She started to tell me a little bit about her herself, saying that she hadn’t been able to pay her rent so was kicked out and living on the streets. I didn’t question her, I just listened. I gave her some money, too.

“Treat yourself to some Starbucks and a sweet treat.”

She smiled. I hugged her as I left and told her I would be praying for her. I backed out of my car and watched Donna walk away. A lady began to give away some of the groceries she had just purchased to Donna.

And I knew God was providing for her needs.

“So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
