-you are the only white person in an entire town and travel to a town over an hour away and still run into people that recognize you from the market  : )


-you can make a baby cry just by looking at them and getting too close (the white skin).


-you eat matooke, beans, cabbage, greens, and rice for all of your meals.


-you are in a 12 passenger van but somehow are crammed in the 12 passenger van with at least 20 other people. It is actually quite funny.


-when kids just want to touch your white skin and at times, try to rub it off : )


-mowers are non-existent and cattle are used to mow the grass.


-you hear mzungu (white person) at least 20 times a day.


-when kids will stand in a row to shake your hands. While at the same time stare in amazement without saying a word  : )


-there are A LOT of children everywhere.


-the yellow line in the middle of the road doesn’t mean anything…


-you can attract a crowd just by walking or sitting. 


-cows and goats hang out in the yard. 


-a meal takes about 3 to 4 hours to make. Reverend Moses’ (our contact) wife, Justine, is a great cook and a really hard worker. 


-4 year olds take their baby siblings out on their backs while they play.


-11 year olds preach and they sound as if they are 20 years old.
