September Newsletter

We have all asked ourselves, is God calling me to do this or rather, am I in need of an adventure? Should I, or is it alright for me to drop everything (i.e. school [which is my thing], jobs, relationships, etc.) and travel around the world? And is it not the affirming moments that assure us we are on the right path or doing what God is calling us to do? I wanted to send my first newsletter and tell of a moment in which I believe God was showing me that in the year 2010 HE is allowing me to be a part of The World Race. Every year my best friend and I take a small, inexpensive trip together and this year it was in Denver, Colorado. We were coming back down from hiking up the Rocky Mountains and met this lady. To walk over to someone and generate a conversation, something draws you to them or something happens to motivate you to do so. In this case, Wendy and her daughter were coming back down the mountain, as were Ash and I, and she had her Labradoodle. Ash and I walked over to pet Lucky and began talking to this lady. Wendy began to ask Ash and I about school as we continued back down the mountain which caused me to tell her of The World Race. I am in Denver, Colorado (live in Texas) and had been seeing posters of universities all week mind you. And praying that God is involved and that HE is calling me to do this. Wendy, in turn, begins to tell me that she is good friends with the guy that started The World Race (we all know him as Seth Barnes) and she and he email quite frequently and that her and her family had just gotten back from Swaziland doing medical aid. She asked me what my name was and what my blog website was so that she could follow my progress and pray for me. It was the most intriguing moment where God felt so DETAILED and INVOLVED. She went on to affirm me in my feelings of believing this is going to be an incredible adventure for many reasons and that for me, Lyndsie, this is just as important as school right now. All week, For me to be doubting my decision to do The World Race because I am worried about putting down the textbooks for a year and to meet Wendy who encouraged me for a solid 45 minutes felt like God was saying, Lyndsie you are doing this. It was incredible. It felt amazing for God to simply affirm and encourage me in Denver, Colorado on the Rocky Mountains through a complete stranger.
