No desire is constant except our desire for Him.

In my 24 years I’ve seen 13 different countries.

With each culture I’ve noticed many desires and values.

Some cultures view beauty as being thin, while others view beauty as being heavier.

Some cultures value beauty and wealth as being lighter skinned, while others value darker skin.

Some cultures value religion, rather than relationship.

Desires and values are constantly changing, and our longing for satisfaction will ever be ongoing. But our desire for Him is always constant.

It’s a void only to be filled by relationship with Him. That’s what we were created to be. So as long as we live this life on earth by filling that void with things and fleshly desires, we will never be filled.

Values change, desires change, beauty changes, religion changes – but one thing remains constant – the desire for the unchanging God.

No matter how much we try to fill that void with things, nothing can ever come close to filling the very being of us that longs to be with our Creator. And He wants nothing more than to fill that piece of us that He created to dwell in. Every bit of us.

As humans we chose independence when He created relationship. We were never created to desire anything but Him. He is enough. But our flesh desired temporary satisfactions  over the Satisfactor. There is nothing more than the Great I Am. He already is all of the things that we could ever need.

We are thirsty beings. When we get worn out we need satisfying water. If we desire anything other than water, we will drink of it and become dehydrated, only thirsting for more. The more and more we drink of the things that don’t heal and satisfy our body, the more desperate we are for water and the more unsatisfied we become. But when we drink of that water our body is restored. Things begin to work as they were created to.

Around the world I’ve noticed that when we have much, we keep wanting more. When we have little, we find blessing and contentment and peace in what we do have. When Jesus is ALL we have, we know He is all we NEED. Growing deeper in Him. When Jesus is not what we desire and we long after things of the world, we will only crave more – growing deeper in unsatisfaction.

Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
??John? ?4:13-14?

What our world needs is to come to the well. The water that satisfies all thirst is waiting.

“Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the Lord God is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation.” With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. And you will say in that day: “Give thanks to the Lord, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the peoples, proclaim that his name is exalted. “Sing praises to the Lord, for he has done gloriously; let this be made known in all the earth.”
??Isaiah? ?12:2-5?
