My calling to missions has been such an adventure!
I feel like in order to fully explain my call to the World Race, I need to explain my calling to missions/ministry!
God called me to vocational ministry when I was 14 yrs old at in Glorietta, NM at Centrifuge Youth Camp! I cannot even put into words how I knew that’s what God was impressing upon me as a teenager, but it was very clear. As a PK (Preacher’s Kid) I was very active in my church and thus continually stayed active in ministry. However, I did not know until my Freshman year of college exactly what kind of ministry God was calling me to.
During “Noon Days” (a lunch-time program in the BSM at DBU) there was a man

speaking about Go Now Missions. They were giving testimonies about how
college students had gone to countries such as China and Japan
and how God had shown Himself in their lives through those trips!
IMMEDIATELY after it was over I ran outside to call my parents and tell them
that I was supposed to go with Go Now that following summer!
I was assigned to East Asia in July 2006 and after coming back
from that 2 week long trip I have never been the same!
God completely changed my “world vision” and gave me such a
passionate love for people of other cultures, languages, and religions.
My calling to The World Race has shown me (once again) how faithful God is to make Himself known in our lives! I heard about the WR about a year and a half ago through a friend who’s friends sister had gone! It sounded absolutely amazing, and definitely like something that I would do BUT as soon as I saw how much $$ I would have to raise, I pushed it aside in my mind. However, throughout that last year at DBU and as I did a missions internship at my church in the summer, God continued to bring it up again and again through emails and just in my own thoughts when plans for the future would fall through. EVERY time I would get so excited about the race and then convince myself that it couldn’t be done because of the support! (I didn’t catch on very quickly!) After the summer ended and I began looking for a “real job”, NOTHING was working out! After one particularly terrible interview, I prayed that night and asked God to show me exactly what He wanted from me and asked that I would have an email the next day from one of the jobs that I had applied for online. When the next morning rolled around, I opened my email and the only email I had in my Inbox was entitled “THE WORLD RACE.” At that point, there was no way that I could deny God’s presence in that room or the calling that He was placing upon my life. Well, obviously I applied, was accepted, and here I am! I am so glad that God is in charge of my life and not me!
