You are a problem

Living in community is hard on so many levels. It’s the point in the race where it is easy to give up on people or the community you are with, and sadly I have seen some of my squadmates do this.

So many times it is easy for us to label someone as not just the problem, but by their problem. It is so easy to say “well that’s just UncleFred the alcoholic” or “that’s Susie the insecure one”. By doing this, we are labeling someone as a problem and not as a person who is trapped in a lie they believe and needs community. When we do that, it is easier for us to write them off and continue our day.

In moments like this it becomes so easy to be selfish and back away from a person instead of pushing in and holding them accountable. When we choose selfishness we bring death to our community. Good community can only happen when people truly do see the needs of others as greater than their own.

When Christ died, not only were His hands and feet nailed to that cross, but so was His reputation. In humility God came to earth. In humility He sat with sinners and was called a drunk In humility He died the death of a sinner. Can we or can we not walk in humility with others? Do we see them as a problem or as children of God who deserve the freedom we walk in?
