I want to invite you to be a part of something that will not only change my life, but also impact the lives of others around the world.
All my life, I have had a blueprint of what my life should look like – I’ve known what the next step should be. I’ve lived within the parameters of a class schedule following what a good student should do to have a successful life. However, once I graduated, that blueprint was no longer there. I had always pictured myself as a businesswoman working in an office. Don’t get me wrong, I still picture that as what I want one day, but not today. Today I’ve decided to step out in faith and do what I never thought I would. After praying about this for an entire summer, I truly believe going overseas is what I am called to do with my life right now. I’m trusting God with my future and I’m excited about this unexpected opportunity.
The reason I write you this letter is because I have decided to do the World Race. The World Race is an 11-month mission trip where I will be living in a new country each month. Depending on the country, the needs will vary. The World Race partners with churches and non-profits all over the world. In order to help further what they are doing, I will walk alongsidethese established communities and help where it is needed. My route consists of South Africa, Swaziland, Mozambique, India, Nepal, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. In some countries I will be working with women who have been sex trafficked, others I will help build houses and teach English. I will live in impoverished areas in each new country.With each changing culture will come diverse challenges, and there is no one perfect cure for every individual struggle—none except the gospel. Following the model that Christ gave to his disciples on earth in Luke 10, we will be traveling lightly (for us, that means with backpacks and sleeping on mats at night), constantly trusting that God will faithfully meet our needs. I’m excited to teach the gospel and to be a part of physical relief in many different countries. I know this will open my eyes to a perception of the world I have never seen before.
In order to do this, I need your help! You see, I have to raise $16,200 in order to go. GULP! I know! This money pays for meals, lodging, air, land, and sea travel, administrative costs, set-up costs, coaching costs, debriefing costs, and training camp costs. To be honest with you, just thinking about how much money that is makes me feel like I am at the bottom of a large mountain looking up. Support raising is a new thing to me, but I’m excited to do it. I have faith that God will provide so many miracles through support raising. Although I am terrified, God has given me peace (Phil 4:7). As He provides during this upcoming year, I know that God cannot be limited, and I’m excited to learn more of this truth through the process of support raising.
