Funding Raising is a long process. When I started support raising for The World Race, I prayed that I would have peace about the large amount of money I would have to raise and people’s responses to me asking them for money (that’s kinda awkward for me). God provided peace about raising money from day one. At first, I thought it was just because I’m naive and new to the whole process, but no, He gave me peace so that I might have confidence to tell people what He is doing in my life.
There have been so many blessings, where do I even start?
- First, my backpack was donated to me.
- I have had multiple alumni I don’t know extremely well give me their old equipment.
- I’ve had countless people I hardly know or don’t know donate more money than I could have even asked for.
- I’ve had brand new equipment bought for me and equipment that I didn’t even know I needed donated to me.
- I have amazing friends and family who are not only willing to help, but also have told their friends and family about what I’m doing and encouraging others to help me.
I am amazed by what God has done, how He has used people and why He chose me… I may never know. I know He doesn’t need me, but has chose to send me. I am so thankful.
To be honest, I didn’t want to do the World Race when I first heard about it. My friend had just returned from her mission trip where she had met some world racers and told me what amazing things they had been doing for the community. Though I thought “good for them” I didn’t feel comfortable about leaving the comfort of a job and the security of family. I actually called an alumni that I heard had a bad experience. I hoped listening to her would talk me out of it before I committed. And what do you know? The more she told me about her experience, the more I had a desire to go. I’m no Jonah, but when God wants you somewhere, He will put you there. Now, I am thrilled to be apart of this experience. I’ve never feel so called to go and do something and I know this is truly the only time in my life I will be able to.
So thank you again to all of you who have donated! Because of all of you, today I am 4% away from meeting my goal. I have 3 weeks until I leave for training camp in Atlanta Georgia and meet my team! If you search for us on the website we are called “the U squad” (each squad has a letter). If you can’t find it, no worries, I’ll update you on how training camp goes!
Thanks again!
