If you were to ask what I do most in India I would say sweat.

If you were to ask what I love most about India I would have to say sweat.

One of my squad mates, Liz, said “If you ain’t sweatin, you ain’t livin!” Sweating means I am alive and well in INDIA!

I haven’t even been in India for a full week yet, but I feel like I haven’t known anything else. The people here are so beautiful, hospitable, and gracious.

We started our journey in a Hyderabad and have moved to a smaller town in South India. Everyday my team and I leave our town to go to small villages. When we arrive in the village we meet with the local pastor, have a soda, and then get ready to walk around to meet the villagers. We prayer for everyone who ask for prayer. We pray for diabetes, an education, and blessings on new babies. We pray for stomach aches, new houses, and pregnancy. But most of all we pray for prosperity. These people are searching for more. Many of the people we pray for are Hindu yet they still reach out to us. It may be because of our white skin. It could be because of our light hair. It may be our funny American accents. Whatever it is that draws them to us I thank God for. I have had a difficult time with the celeberity status we receive in the villages, but one of my teammates, Kayla, helped me change my view on this. She explained that it may be our foreignness that brings the people to the church. It may be our light skin. Whatever it is they are coming to the church. We are helping them get a little bit closer to our loving Father and the relationship he desires with them.

So I am thankful for how sweaty I am at the end of the day. I am thankful for the hot nights & the even hotter days. I am thankful for the bucket showers (google it if you are unsure what I mean). I am thankful for the lack of a/c. AND I am thankful that I get to be the hands and feet of God.

Until next time, vandanalu!
