Hola des de Honduras! My Spanish skills are coming along quite nicely! I’ve loved being immersed in a new language and picking up conversational words is going great!

I am currently living with my team of six (plus one alumni squad leader) in Choloma, outside of San Pedro, cuatro ahoras des de Tegucigalpa. My team consists of three women and three men. The men include Carter at age 23, Jonathon age 26, and myself at 23 years of age. The women are as followed Katie at 26, Codi 26, and Melissa at 32 years of age. Our host for the month is the Pastor Gregorio and his family. Pastor Gregorio’s family love to serve and love to laugh. Though we do not speak the same language, Pastor Gregorio and his family have treated us like their family. Special shout-out to our Alumni Squad Leader Taylor Kruger, she has been an awesome translator and saved us A LOT of time with communicating.

One of our team goals for the month is spending intimate time with the Lord and that looks different for each one of us. Sometimes we pray, sometimes we read scripture individually and also corporately, sometimes it’s just sitting and listening to the Father speak words of life over our lives. It is week one and we as a team are already learning what being vulnerable means, and how to be intentional in our conversations.

This coming week will be our first full week of children’s ministry. Our team will be participating in two children’s feeding programs this week with Pastor Gregorio. On Monday and Tuesday we will be feeding and playing with children up the street at a local school that also serves as our church while their iglesia is under construction. Then Wednesday through Saturday we will be assisting in the ministry Compassion International. Unfortunately we did not have the chance to participate in Compassion this past week due to lack of funds. However, this week we will be in full action.

This week has been a week of firsts for me. First time going to church four times in one week. First time playing the tambourine in worship. First time playing a maraca in worship. First time singing in front of a church where the audience could not understand what we were singing. First time reading a bible verse in Spanish to a Spanish-speaking congregation.

Thank you for your prayers, for interceding for me, and for the money to able to be here. The Father is at work all over the world and I am honored to be apart of this great work He is doing in Honduras.
