Hello everyone! These three weeks in Panama have been a blast! My team and I have been staying about thirty minutes outside of David, Panama. We’ve been blessed to have stayed at the YWAM base here. YWAM stands for Youth With A Mission. I had no idea what it was until I got here lol.
These past weeks have been a lot of resting with the Lord. Some frequent questions from Jesus have been, “Am I enough for you Lyle?” and “Are you okay with living a normal life?” Which I have answered Yes. Maybe not initially. Actually not initially lol. And that’s okay. I don’t need to have all the right answers. He wants me to trust him. Jesus has also been attacking my american consumerism view of the gospel. He is revealing that his gospel is meant to transform me, not to serve me. Which is stripping and exciting all at the same time. He’s showing me that growing, becoming, and being the man I want to be isn’t really the point. The point is to know Him. Period. So my view of success and his view of “success” are two polar opposites and that’s challenging and exciting all at the same time.
And I have been in the perfect environment for all of this resting and abiding. The base here is comfortable. Great food. A lot of land, with a lot of trees, and plenty of space to play. I have really loved this place but am excited to venture on. Over these past three weeks our team has taught English, and Bible to the indigenous students here. These students are incredible and the calling the Lord has on their life is even more incredible. Some of the students here at the base have been already to China as apart of their outreach for their Discipleship Training School. These indigenous people are helping spread the gospel to not only their people but obeying Jesus’s commission of go into all the world and make disciples. We may think they’re the only ones that need to be reached but they are also the ones reaching people. Every nation, Every Tribe and Every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord! Hallelujah! Praise Jesus!
And as always we have been participating in children’s ministry and babysitting. I think I’ve found my calling, performing as Sampson lol. My team and I are departing from the YWAM base tonight and will be driving overnight to Panama City. From Panama City we will be flying to Houston, from Houston to Los Angeles, from Los Angeles to Guangzhou, China and then to Jakarta, Indonesia. Yeah I know. This next week is gonna be filled with a lot of travel. My team and I will staying on a small island named Maluku, in the capital city, Ambon for the next month. We will be working with Wycliffe and this is their first time hosting a race team. Please be in prayer for my team’s health over the next month. And please be in prayer about contributing towards my final fundraising deadline. The Lord has moved in many incredible ways already and would love to extend the invitation to be apart of giving, to YOU! By the end of this month I need to raise $2,500 more to stay on the field and then I will be FULLY FUNDED for the year!!
