In less than nine days I will leave the country for nine months!! It absolutely does not feel real. For so long I have distantly thought about the day I would leave for the race. It has always felt so far away until now. This is HAPPENING.

I think it hit me for the first time that I was actually doing this in June before I left for training camp. People keep asking me if I’m excited or nervous and the answer is… yes. If I’m being honest, I’m terrified. I have no idea what to expect, but I am anxious to see the ways I KNOW the Lord will work through my amazing squad. I am so blessed to not only have Jesus before me, but also a team and a squad who loves Him as much as I do, and who I know is feeling all the same things right there with me.

Thank you for your prayers and financial support. I am OVERJOYED to tell you that I am fully funded! That is huge and amazing and wouldn’t have been possible without your generosity.

As you may suspect, I will not have regular access to the internet while on the field. If I do, I will most likely be updating my blog right here! If you subscribe, you will receive an email notification when I post! You can subscribe to my squad mates and teammates as well… you can find them over on the left of this page!

Thank you again for coming alongside me as I begin this journey! It is so comforting to know I have people back home thinking of me and praying for me while I am gone. Here are some specific ways you can pray!

  • Pray that fear will not stop me from stepping out.
  • Pray for the health and safety of my squad as we travel.
  • Pray for peace for leaving and assurance that God will sustain me through the process!
  • Pray for our first month in Nsoko, Swaziland as we work with orphans and AIDS victims.

Love, Lydia
