Hi friends!
I hope you all had an amazing Christmas! And a Happy New Year! My Christmas this year looked a lot different but was one of the best I’ve ever had and definitely the most memorable. My New Year’s Eve was spent at the Taj Mahal and I rang in 2018 from the backseat of an SUV on the side of the road on the way to the airport. Never forget.
Saying goodbye to India wasn’t easy… but I am always excited and ready to go to a new place. I fell in love with India, and it will always hold a super special place in my heart. The kids, caregivers, foreigners, and everyone we had the pleasure of meeting became so special to me and I am so grateful for the love they showed us. I learned a lot about myself in India. Like I’m capable of being extremely flexible even though I love sticking to a plan. I also learned a lot about the Lord. Even if I don’t feel equipped at all for a certain ministry, I have the Holy Spirit in me and that is enough. I lived the saying “God doesn’t call the equipped, He equips the called.”
Life was not always easy these past two months. Homesickness, lice, extreme heat, no running water, and the most mosquitoes you have EVER seen… but it was two of the best months of my life.
We just finished a week of debrief in Kathmandu. The place our squad stayed for debrief was tucked behind a maze of streets lined with prayer flags and lights and shops. Compared to India it is so quiet here… I can’t remember the last time I heard a car horn.
This month all of the guys from my squad (about 10) will be living separately from the girls for “manistry” which means all of the girls get to share a whole month together! Dreams! I am so excited to spend this month with my sisters. I am unexplainably thankful for this community. These girls are truly my family.
It is COLD here in Nepal in January. I haven’t taken my socks off in three days and our house does not have heat which means I am sleeping in my coat and a dozen layers. I can’t complain though… after five months of so much sweating I am beyond thankful to be able to see my breath in the air outside.
We don’t find out our specific ministry for another couple days but I will try to update you as soon as I can with more information about the ways we are going to be serving this month!
I love you all! Thank you for reading and praying.
