Even though we were only in the jungle for two weeks, our ministry and the culture of Yaviza grasped my heart. Having the opportunity to partner alongside a ministry who disciples a small group of children in order to truly make disciples of Christ was inspiring. Even the rundown town ignited my heart. The only other times when I experienced this type of love for a job or location was when I worked with youth camps and when I am with my nieces and nephews. It is a crazy type of love that is carefree and selfless. I felt normal when I was being my craziest with a bunch of little kids and it never ran through my mind that I might look weird or that people were even watching.

There is such a need in Yaviza and my heart hurt for the area, people and neglected children. The area is starting to be reached more, but it’s in the Darien Gap. People only view it as a dangerous area and I did as well. I never thought there were hundreds of communities scattered in and among the jungle. Yet there are and they are beautiful and need Jesus as much as you and a I. Amidst the heat and the bugs, they are still people created by God and made to glorify Him. My eyes were opened to that this month. God called us to reach ALL the world and ALL people. The Lord has brought so much joy to my life by revealing this simple little truth and allowing me to see and meet some of the beautiful faces in the jungle.

Mark 16:15
And he said to them, Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation”.
