Miracles were something I only read or heard about. As a kid I loved to read about Jesus’ ministry and always imagined what it would be like to be an onlooker, disciple or someone receiving healing. It fascinated me. And it should. It should fascinate us all because of who the Healer is. I loved reading missionary stories about healings and miraculous escapes, or of God’s protection. I used to dream and imagine myself as those missionaries and it was my biggest dream and desire. It still is, but only in my wildest dreams could I ever imagine witnessing miracles.

During our stay in Somoto, Nicaragua the Lord opened us up to see Him clearer, revealed Himself to us, and showed His glory.

It changed my life.

One day, what started as a short prayer time and meeting turned into a 6 hour time with the Lord! Some of the team was speaking in tongues and all the sudden one of my teammates began to understand through Spanish and started translating into English as God released the gift of interpretation. It was a beautiful and intimate time of utter amazement and awe of the Lord’s Holiness. He continued to use my teammates to speak into each of us and as a whole group to declare His Holiness and whisper His promises. When we finished, we were all so filled with awe and fire for this crazy, intimate Father. “Father” has such new, fresh and dear meaning.

Later that day, one of my teammates sat down and had sharp pain in her knees. This is not normal for her, so it was exclaimed that someone else in the hostel might have knee pain. There were 3 men in the vicinity and we proceeded to ask each one if they had knee pain. One man had arthritis in his right knee. As we prayed, with hands laid on his knee, he began to feel heat rush through his knee.

He moved it, and he was healed!

God healed him.

About 10 minutes later, he reappeared and asked if we could come into his room where his family was congregating. He explained that they were traveling from Honduras and his Mother-in-law had a heart attack. She was laying on the bed and also had a severe headache. We petitioned our Father and the man joined us so that He could see the Lord use him as well. Later, the woman was up walking around and said she was completely better!

A day later, my teammate asked me to pray for her stomach because she had experienced miserable stomach issues for over a month and after taking medication it still was not better. I asked the Lord on her behalf and after calling out and trusting wholeness in her body, her body released whatever was causing pain and she hasn’t experienced any problems since.

I always wanted to know what it felt like to be used by the Lord for healing. Now I know. You don’t feel any different-only indescribable joy, love and humility towards a God who just made Himself great.

God’s not dead.
