Month 7, and it has become a little surreal that we only have 4 1/2 months left of the Race! This month my team has been with another all-girls team in Los Guido, Costa Rica which is about 40 minutes outside of San Jose. We have been serving with a ministry called Christian Light Foundation which was founded by an American couple about 12 years ago. Their mission is to reach the poor and dangerous areas with the gospel. They have planted a church and provide a feeding center for local kids during the week. They also reach out to the surrounding communities to teach kids about Jesus.

All 13 of us have been living in the feeding center gym in our tents! We get to play with the kids who come for lunch everyday and present Bible stories and lessons. At the end of this week, we are putting on a big event and presenting the gospel. I love interacting with the precious kids!

Something overall that the Lord has been teaching me this month is that He knows my heart and that everything I do is ultimately for Him. Nothing is about me, the ministry we work with, or how many kids remember my name or give me a hug. What matters is if I was obedient to Holy Spirit in what He wants me to do in every moment of my day. The Lord has been reminding me that what matters is my heart. People don’t need to see the things we do for Jesus because if it is truly for Jesus then it doesn’t matter if anyone sees it at all. I was feeling frustrated this week about a situation and the very next day the Lord revealed to me that “Lydia, it isn’t about you. I died for and have taken all offenses on myself. It is about me and I am using you for MY glory. Who cares about what others think. You don’t live for them.” Talk about true freedom! Being reminded that it isn’t WHAT we do but WHO we live in obedience to, is always a true check of our hearts. So often we get caught up in our actions and what we are doing instead of more actively cultivating a genuine relationship with our creator. And out of that relationship is what yields the fruit.
