On Saturday morning we left El Salvador and arrived by bus in Honduras that night.
I am in love with Honduras.
Our entire squad is staying together in a place called Zion's Gate, right outside the capitol city of Tegucigalpa. Zion's Gate is a several acre property which holds a small school and is home to seven teenage boys who have left lives of gangs, addiction, robbery, etc. Our contact Tony hopes to turn the property into a park, a safe place for families to bring their children.
This month we will be doing many different ministries, something different every week. Some days we will be working with machetes to clear the property, some days we will be going into poor communities to do construction work. Some days we will be going to soccer fields in the poor communities to play music, sports and do activities with the youth to bring some light into the darkness. One day a week we have the opportunity to go into a government institution which takes street kids and basically locks them up for a period of time in order to make the streets safer. We get to bring them some hope. I can't even tell you how excited I am for all that we will be doing here.
Please pray for us to be a light in the darkness. Honduras is a dangerous place. It's a center for drug trafficking in Central America, it has the highest murder rate in the world. But honest for real, I don't know if I've ever felt more safe, right in the center of God's will. I don't feel the darkness here, I feel the limitless potential for good. E-Squad is going to rock Honduras, and Honduras is going to rock us. Opportunities have already been opened for us, from spending time with youth to meeting with important government officials about the work we are doing here. Pray for our team unity, for divine appointments, for health, for safety, for finances and for every heart that we will touch. Praise God for our time in Honduras and the radical change that is about to happen. We can feel it.
I still need $1636 by April 1st and to continue on the race. My squad needs me here. Our contacts need me and the people we minister to need me. I don't say this out of a place of pride, but of ever increasing humility in what God has been teaching me and what He wants to do through me, and through all of you who are my supporters. Thank you so much for what you have all given already. I would love to reach my next goal as soon as possible so that I can focus on ministry, so if you can afford to give please pray about it. God bless.
