Throughout this process I have doubted, I have been insecure, I have been so drowned in work and school, I have went to bed forgetting to pray, I have missed church because I overslept from working the night before, I have sinned, I have been angry, I have stressed and worried, I have evaluated my relationships with friends and family, I have throughout my life had failed relationships, lack of self confidence, been depressed, but all of this has not stopped God from calling me on mission. When I look throughout the bible I realize and reflect that it is often the nobodies, the have not’s and the misfits that are the ones who we elevate as the spiritual heroes.

  • Adam and Eve lured, concealed, and accused.
  • Abraham was old and had some serious marriage issues.
  • Noah was a drunk.
  • Jacob was insecure.
  • Joseph was abused and sold into slavery.
  • Moses had a stuttering and confidence problem-and was also a murderer.
  • Elijah was depressed and suicidal.
  • Gideon was poor.
  • David has a list to long to even mention.
  • Jonah was rebellious and unwilling to listen to God’s instructions.
  • Jeremiah was depressed.
  • John the Baptist was eccentric to say the least.
  • Peter was impulsive and hot-tempered.
  • Martha worried too much and was a workaholic.
  • The Samaritan woman has numerous failed relationships and was ostracized in her community.
  • Samson was dependent.
  • Thomas was doubtful..
  • Timothy was timid.
  • Zacchaeus was small and money hungry.
  • The Disciples fell asleep while praying.
  • Paul was a Pharisee who persecuted Christians before becoming one.

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” –Romans 8:28

If you take anything from this I hope you never underestimate what God can do through your life. God has a long and proven history of using foolish and broken people for his glory. In HIM we find renewal and mending. Jesus didn’t call the equipped, He equipped the called. And no matter what you’ve been through in life, remember that the same power that conquered the grave lives within you.

So I know for a fact through my imperfections God has called me to serve. That through Him I will develop more self esteem and confidence in all that I do. I with all I have will make little ripples of faith, hope, compassion, service, and love impact livers all around the world. I am ENOUGH through the Lord who strengthens me!
