My team, the soul sisters, does not like the term Feedback. So we have changed it to an awesome name of Firefighting. We established this name on the basis of two things: One that we are fighting the enemy’s fires and putting out the fires that are not of the Lord in other people, and Two Kelsey got the vision of two firefighters going into work and calling each other higher into the most effective way to do something. We have established our fear. So what do we do to combat this fear we do the scariest thing that we can possibly think of: super feedback combined with the hot seat. For future racers: Brace yourself it’s not for the faint-hearted but you will naturally survive only one person has ever died from it that we know of.
My team spoke so much life over me. This is what the Lord gave them:
You have a gift with little kiddos. You are SO good with kids. I love that you single them out and hold them close. I know you’ve been frustrated with Hector, but every time I see him, he’s in your lap classing with you. You make him feel so seen and loved—he’s probably not used to that. I know you are passionate about foster kids and refugees. Have you thought about combining those? I know you say the Lord has given you the word, “love the unlovable” but I feel you do that really well already…. At least your actions say that! Whether it’s seeing you at the beach with that little girl the WHOLE time of loving on kids here, it so clear you are so present. You know why you’re here and you know this is where God has you for a reason. Your missions work is really inspiring for me to see, and I always watch it and ask myself, “How am I loving these kids well? How am I living on mission?” I feel like you do these things really well. My challenge is to keep pressing into that.
I’ve watched you the past two weeks have the greatest patience with these kids. You don’t raise your voice and even your stern, “no” voice sounds approachable. You discipline with a embracing hug to the kids that we have worked with. Through this time the way that you’ve loved hector and taken him under your wing is so great.
Thank you for taking on the task of creating the background for the Christmas program. Although you didn’t necessarily choose to (more like it chose you), you have still done it with a small on your face. That shows that you see this is His kingdom work and do it with joy. Even the little things. That attitude/perspective is admirable, honorable, and contagious.
The thing that you take ownership over is your desire and passion for children. Be that in the way that you volunteer to watch over them, making it known you want to be with them, love on them, and many other ways. I so do admire that.
My one challenging feedback across the board from everyone was to listen.
A teammate said, “Something I’ve noticed a lot lately is that when someone is talking or in the middle of a story, you get really excited and start sharing a story right in the middle of when they were talking about theirs.”
So I have choose to be intentional in what I share, to be slow to speak, to have discernment of what to share and what isn’t as important. From here on out I am going to be more intentional to listen more carefully, and to honor people’s voices.
Fundraising:
January 31 is the final deadline to be fully funded! I am $778.00 away from being fully funded. I pray that you will ask the Lord if He wants you to provide financially to my missions trip. All you have to do is click on the donate tab on my blog and it will prompt you through the whole process.
