This month we are working with Cherished Life Ministries.
We are teaching Farming in God’s Way with Pastor Enoch.
What is Farming in God’s Way?— Well it is an apostolic initiative for preaching the gospel, strengthening and extending the kingdom of God with an emphasis on sustainable agriculture as a model for life-transformation of individuals, communities, and nations.
Africa is the most poverty stricken of all the world’s continents, with approximately 750 million subsistence farmers, who are living undernourished and degraded lives where their current crops yields cannot even provide for their families requirements.
The World of God says in Hosea 4:6 ‘My people perish because of the lack of knowledge.”
So can there be a solution in this crisis?
The answer is yes, and this is what we have been teaching and sharing. We believe that Farming God’s Way is part of God’s solution for Africa, where it can be turned around from being the “begging bowl” to the “breadbasket of the world.”
Farming God’s Way is simply a tool of equipping to empower the poor to help themselves. Farming God’s Way was originated before man was on the face of the earth, when God first put His ways in place to govern His creation and their interrelations with one another. God is the master farmer who has been farming this way since the beginning and by simply following His Ways, amazing solutions to the food security and poverty crisis can be revealed.
Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
So this is what are month looks like. Yes don’t get me wrong, when I first learned about, “You will be teaching how to farm God’s Way.” I literally was like umm what the heck is that, and what is this Kentucky girl going to do to help Africa farm when she hasn’t farmed a day in her life…
***Flashback to the days when I was 7 in my grandmas garden hand farming, three seeds in a little hole I had scooped out all by herself.
Then God said, “Yes, you have all the knowledge you need, and I will give you even more to present.” “Also I will give you a teammate who has studied agriculture as her bachelor’s degree, seriously, Lydia you have this one in the bag. Don’t worry.”
And I said, “Okay Lord, you are going to carry me through this hot mess express of farming. And that’s how my month started. Coming in hot—- just like the cow poop we use for manure and cooking gas. (But for reals)”
So in a week and a half I feel basically like a pro at farming. (Even though I’m going to kidnap Susan to help with my “Farm” when I get home.) (By the way ask about Susan! She is awesome). However Who knows what other knowledge I am about to learn in the remaining time I am here.
So I write this blog to ask you to pray for Africa in this time of drought. (Praise the Lord it has rained two times since we have been here). Pray for the individuals getting the knowledge about farming and that they will be able to apply the skills they learn. Pray that they will have abundant crops for their families, the neighbors, and for the market to sale for money. I ask you to pray for Pastor Enoch who will continue this program even after we leave with individuals of the community. Then lastly I ask you to pray for the kingdom of God’s to come to Earth as we share the teaching He has provided us to teach.
