It’s time my friends!

Here’s the much anticipated blog and fundraising post I promised. πŸ™‚

First off!

This is my official blog for the entirety of the race.

I will be blogging as often as I can while on the mission field. The months leading to the trip will be blogs about fundraising, information about my trip, and whatever is on my heart as I go through this fundraising and trip preparation journey. πŸ™‚

Have I told you how excited I am yet? I AM SO EXCITED I COULD BURST! Ok, maybe that’s a bit much, but man I am pumped!

With the excitement is a huge dose of uncertainty. Will I actually be able to this? What if something happens to my family, my friends, while I’m away? What If I couldn’t get home to them quickly? What if this isn’t what God wants for me? What if I end up giving up? What if everything changes so much while I’m gone that I won’t fit in when I get back? What if I don’t even raise these funds in the first place?!!! Didn’t God call me?

There are a million questions and “what if?” scenarios.

So here’s where I’m at……….God is in control. Life happens whether I am here or in Africa. While being here is more convenient, God hasn’t called me to live a convenient life. He hasn’t called us to be comfortable even though we are comforted!

I know many of you will have questions for me. I want to answer ALL of them.

Call, Text, Email, Message, whatever way you can! I would love to get some coffee (or tea…….or juice) with you and share my heart.

SO!!! Here’s how you can help. πŸ™‚

I am very excited to go on the World Race, but without your help I can’t go! I need your partnership to go on this mission and to be able to stay there the entire 11 months.

Deadlines:

  • $3,500 – Due 9/27/2014 (2 weeks before Training Camp)
  • $7,500 – Due 12/18/2014 (2 weeks prior to trip)
  • $11,000 – Due 4/1/2015 (End of 3 months on the field)
  • $15,500.00 + $742.60 (*Insurance) = $16,242.60 – Total Due 7/1/2015 (End of 6 months on the field)

While I do not have to be fully funded before I leave It would be INCREDIBLE to be as close as possible so I have less to worry about on the field. I have until my 6th month on the field (July 2015) to be fully funded.

My first deadline is September 27, 2014. I need to have $3,500 raised by then.

1) Commit to giving monthly. If you can, consider giving a monthly donation. $20 may not seem like much, but when you give $20/month for 11 months, that’s $220 in my account!

2) Give one-time. Giving monthly may not be something you are interested in, so please consider giving a one-time donation. EVERY donation, no matter the size, helps me reach my goal!

3) Help spread the word! My network of people only spreads so far, but you can help me expand my reach! Share my blogs on Facebook, tell your friends about what I’m doing, ask others you know to give. It is encouraging to have a network of people supporting you along the way, and it is an awesome feeling to see people I don’t even know, willing to support this mission!

4) Pray! No matter what you choose to do, please pray! This is not an easy trip, and I need to be covered in prayer! Pray for me, pray for my team and my squad mates, pray for provision, and most of all, pray for opportunities overseas to minister to others; that God would open up doors and do amazing things along this journey!

*I have nearly 800 facebook friends. If all 800 gave $11 one time (see what I did there?) that would be half of my trip! If each person gave $20…..that would be the whole thing!!

Ways to Give

ONE TIME DONATION

1) Mail-in a check

Please email me for a response card to provide AIM with the information necessary to send you a tax-deductible receipt for your donation with a check. My email is [email protected]. When you mail in a check there is no processing fee attached, but it can take a couple of weeks to process. Please make checks payable to Adventures In Missions and in the memo line write Appealed by Lydia Burns.

Return the response card with your donation to:

Adventures in Mission, PO Box 742570, Atlanta, GA 30374-2570

2) Online

You can donate on my blog by clicking the “Support Me” link in the upper left side of the page, or next to the fundraiser bar on top of the page, and complete your donation as instructed. You may set up a recurring donation through this option as well and select your start and end date. Select the end date to be in July, when I have to be fully funded by. This option charges a 3% processing fee, and allows for bank drafts as well as credit/debit donations. These may take 3-5 days to process.

MONTHLY DONATIONS

You can set-up a monthly donation through the “support Me” tab OR Dynapay is an option for donating through Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), which allows you to set up a monthly donation through your personal checking account. Dynapay is strictly for reoccurring donations; one-time donations may not be made through this route. You can set up your reoccurring donation by going to https://www.adventures.org/dynapay and completing the required fields. There is no processing fee with this option. When asked “Which person or purpose to support” put Lydia Burns.

Keep in mind when choosing your start and end dates that I will need to be fully funded by July 1st 2015, so you may choose to start your monthly donations right away!

If you are financially unable to support me but still want to help? SWEET! I will have many many many fundraising opportunities such as: garage sales, benefit dinner’s, car wash, bake sale, auction’s, and all kinds of events. As I raise funds I will be calling on people for help. Do you cook, paint, draw, clean, organize, all of the above?! Great! I will need all kinds of people and talents. MAJOR POINT! Do you have any ideas for fundraising? Do you want to throw a fundraiser on my behalf? HOLLA AT ME! But really, if you feel called to help in this way, that would be incredible! Message, call, text, email, you know the deal!

ARE YOU STILL HERE?!

Good. πŸ™‚

Thank you so much, from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to read this, to pray, and to donate. I know that in your blessing me by enabling me to travel the world to reach people in the most hopeless of situations, God will in turn bless YOU. That’s just how He do!!! He is so good.

I look forward to blogging more about the things on my heart in the future. These are the facts and all the information you need to help fund me. I will also be sending out letters with this information. If you know that you want one for file, or to put on your fridge, please get me your address by any of the above mentioned outlets. Lastly ASK ME QUESTION! I am here to help, to listen, and answer.

THANK YOU!!!

PS. I am extremely happy about having colors and different sized fonts…could you tell? πŸ˜‰
