We just got to India! I am so excited to be here. We got to our main site in the evening and were greeted with friendly people and a fantastic dinner (which we ate with our hands). Our orientation was at this site, which lasted 3 days (after which we split up and traveled to the specific places we would be staying). On the first full day of orientation, we learned about the culture and the language (which is so much fun!), including a song in the local language, and then had the rest of the day free. That afternoon, our team was able to spend time together (which we realized was much needed) at Starbucks (a little taste of home, haha). I definitely appreciated that time after being around our whole squad for the past week and not getting much small group time. That evening, a local who knew one of my squad mates visited us. He had actually interned at her church in the Unites States, and she told him we were coming. He was incredibly nice, and invited several of us out to ice cream! It was great to see more of the city and have some good conversations.
