A question I’m constantly asking myself is “How did I end up here?”. Last night my teammates Moriah and Grace convinced me to get up on stage with them and lead a worship song at a Christmas party in Thailand. My thoughts were something like “I’m not qualified for this, I can’t sing. How did I end up here on stage?”  In Ecuador, myself and 5 other men from my squad took 3 buses and then hopped in the back of a pickup truck and ended up at a beautiful waterfall. “What? How? We don’t speak the language, but we’re here looking at a glimpse of God’s glory and beauty.” Or when we ran out of gas on the side of the road with some friends we made, “What just happened and how did I end up here?”

As I was talking to the Lord about all of the craziness and things that seem so bizarre to me, He told me “You’re right where you should be.” and reminded me of Psalms 139. The whole chapter is a reminder of the fact that the Lord knew every single detail of our lives before we were even born. Verse 16 says “Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” He knew that I would be sitting in this coffee shop right now writing these exact words, and He knew that you would be sitting right where you are reading them. This passage showed me that every single day, even if my plans change, the Lord wasn’t surprised at all. Nothing that happens surprises Him, and He is puts us right where we are supposed to be.

So if you’re in a season of confusion or you feel lost or surprised, just know that the Creator of the entire planet is for you and is working for you. You might be thrown off by some scary medical news or the loss of a loved one, but He cares for you and is fighting for you. Lean on Him in the hardships and He will bring you through. His ways are higher than ours, even when it’s hard to see.

Merry Christmas from Thailand!!! I’m celebrating the birth of our Savior with each of you I just happen to be on the other side of the world.

God Bless,
