I was looking through my laptop at some blogs I never posted from last year and found this one. I feel like the Lord wants me to share it, so let’s take a look back at my thoughts from March here in Cambodia:

This past week, our squad had our Parent Vision Trip (PVT). My mom flew halfway around the world to Siem Reap, Cambodia to see just a little glimpse of what the World Race looks like on the field. We had the opportunity to worship, evangelism, and do some community clean up together, and it was an incredible week. After our ministry week, we had an off day and mom and I went with a couple other friends to see Angkor Wat.

Upon arrival at one of the Seven Wonders of the World, I was in awe of the size of the temples, but my heart was instantly broken. Thousands upon thousands of people dedicated their entire lives to constructing this amazing building, intricately carving pictures on the walls, creating beautiful statues, and building something of great magnitude for their god. All of it was completely and utterly meaningless. It was all done for a god that doesn’t even exist.

I got to sit and talk with 3 monks who study and worship at Angkor Wat every single day. As I asked questions and heard their stories, they were all doing the same thing; trying to do enough good things and avoid the bad things in order to have a better next life. You see, they have all experienced brokenness in their families and in their own lives, so they have dedicated their lives to try to please their god so the next life will be a better one.

As I was talking with some of my squadmates about my time at Angkor Wat, we were all amazed at the great lengths people go to serve their gods. It brought us to the question, if thousands of people were willing to do something so big for a god that doesn’t exist, why won’t we step out and do big things for the one true God? I’m not saying we should go build a massive temple with a moat around it, but I do think that it’s time for Christians to be bold and make an impact for the Kingdom.

We live in a hurting and broken world, I don’t think I have to convince anybody reading this of that. Just turn on your local news channel or scroll through Facebook and you’ll see things happening as a result of the fall of man. People are going through their lives searching for something that we have! Why would we withhold that from them?

Romans 10:13-16: “’Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’ How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!’”

So go proclaim the Good News boldly! At work, at school, at Target, at McDonald’s, everywhere you go, walk in boldness and make an impact for the kingdom.
