Dear friends and family,
Where do I start? My time in high school is coming to a close and the real world is coming at me much faster than I had expected. Being a senior, I have been asked all of the typical questions: “Where are you going to college?” “What are you doing for school next year?” “What are you going to major in?” And to be quite honest with you, I have no idea where I want to go to college, what I want to major in, or what I want to do for the rest of my life.
International missions have always held a special place in my heart. Ever since my first mission trip with my dad to the Dominican Republic in the summer of 2012, I have felt God’s call on my life to spread His good news across the globe. After my trip to the DR, I took two trips to Honduras, which furthered my love for international people and spreading God’s love.
Through lots of random searching of “year long mission trips” and other things of that sort, God has led me to the World Race Gap Year through Adventures in Missions. This program is for students looking to take a year off from school to focus solely on their relationship with God and furthering His kingdom. What better way to spend your time when you have no clear plan for your future? The Gap Year is a 9 month program in which “racers” will travel to 5 countries on 3 different continents. The route that God has led me to take is to Colombia, Ecuador, Cambodia, Thailand, and Albania. Over the course of this 9 months, I will have to opportunity to show the true love of the Father to orphans, pray for spiritual and physical healing of the sick, minister to human trafficking victims, help plant churches, and extend the hope found in Jesus with everyone we come in contact with.
I would like to ask each one of you to partner with me in this next chapter of my life. First and foremost, I ask for your prayers. Prayers for safety for my team and I, prayers for both physical and spiritual strength while on the race, and for hearts that are open to hear the Gospel.
The second way that you can partner with me in this journey is monetary donations, either a one time donation or a monthly contribution. The cost of this trip will be $14,951. Many of you, much like I did when I saw this number, are thinking “That’s crazy! How will he be able to raise that much money?” And the honest answer is I don’t know. But I am trusting God in this, knowing that He is in control of all things, including my fundraising.
Donations can be made right here on this blog page or sent to Adventures in Missions at “P.O. Box 742570, Atlanta, GA 30374-2570” with my name “Luke Troyanek” on the memo line along with the attached Fundraising Card.
Adventures In Missions is a tax-exempt organization under IRS code 501(c)(3) and is a member of the ECFA. (Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability). Due to IRS and ECFA regulations governing the administration of tax deductible donations given in support of a particular trip/program, support contributions given on behalf of an individual will be used to offset the costs of the trip/program you are involved in. All contributions are non-refundable regardless of the participant’s success in completing the program.
If you would like to follow along with me on this journey, I will be keeping a blog with updates on my fundraising and our work in the field on this website.
As you consider partnering with me in this next stage of my life, I would like to thank you in advance for your prayers and donations.
Thank you and God Bless,
Luke Troyanek
