This past off day I had the opportunity to travel about 2 hours away to visit a ministry called “Waves of Love” and it was incredible. The couple that runs the ministry (Paula and Mike) were absolutely amazing people who loved the Lord so much and that was evident in the way that they loved others. When we first got there we were able to go to a feeding program and serve some kids after or before lunch and the kids were full of love and energy. We played with them for a while and also had the opportunity to visit an older woman down the street who encouraged us. She was so full of love for the Lord that you couldn’t help but feel great while in her presence. After that we went back to the organizations compound and had lunch. They were hosting a training/discipleship program for other Christian organizations in the area, including REAP Granada who I have been living and working with in Granada Nicaragua. The people there called us in the middle of their meeting to be prayed over and it was crazy. They were laughing and praying and so full of joy, but also the Spirit. They began to prophecy over us and it was incredible!!! One of the girls I was with began crying, others were super encouraged, and I was encouraged as well as a lil bit weirded out. In the middle of the prayer, as more people were waiting to hear from God, the leader started talking to the locals about memes. I was so confused at first, but then he related it to God and I realized something amazing. The way we pray, the way we worship, the way we read our Bible, are pretty irrelevant. This guy was praying, then talking about memes, then praying, and then who knows what. He was walking in the Spirit so much that he didn’t worry about what I was thinking or anything really. The amount of freedom that those people had was amazing and almost a lil whack! But thats what I wanna be like. People constantly say that as Christians we are supposed to look different and I personally haven’t looked that different from the world in my life thus far. It is easier said then done, but I want to be like those people. So free in the presence of the Lord that nothing else matters. After that was all done they took us to the beach which is right by their house and they surfed. They minister to a bunch of local surfers as well as young guys coming to the beaches from afar to “shred”. It is one of the coolest ministries that I have seen and taught me a lot about making whatever you love into a way to love on others. God thank you for allowing me to meet so many incredible people who exemplify you so well!
