I would have a lot of things to say about travel, it was long, it was hard, I got sick, stayed sick for a long time and I’m just now getting better. We traveled 77 hours to get to Jeffrey’s bay and the flights and bus rides were terrible but me and my team got through them. God is good and he will get us through everything if we go to him.
Fast forward a week or so and we are at our ministry in J-bay, (ill have a video out within a month showing the area we are staying at) we started building a house which would have been a middle school here. We dug and pickaxed out an area next to the primary school and then mixed concrete and filled the holes in to make the foundation. Working with this team of guys and one of the other team of girls we worked quickly and finished it in 2 days. We had a few injuries but they are all healed and recovered now we are a few weeks in.
Fast forward a few days. We had 5 days of camp, it was pretty difficult, from waking up and going to the beach to watch the sunrise, then coming back to the camp to get the kids up and ready for breakfast. I was in a room with about 20 people so you could imagine how hard it was to get 20 kids up and dressed and ready for breakfast. Once we got the kids ready though and out of the door life was a bit less stressful. Once we eat breakfast we have a little time until the session starts. (I was the sound and visual guy in the back of the room) All of the kids came in to the big hall and we start worshiping our most high God, His glory is beautiful. We sing a few songs and then transition into prayer. Once we finish praying someone brings the word. The kids learn some things and have some things to think about at group time which is after the session. The kids talk about what they learned in the session and have some things to think about throughout the day. I didn’t have a group because I was in the background as a background guy! After group time on certain days we would play games, some of the games were scheduled and some of them weren’t. We would do things until 1:00 which was lunch time. The meals that we got at this camp were pretty good, if you know me I’m a pretty picky eater, only a few people know, but now you do too so congratulations! After lunch we would have games and structured stuff until around 6:00 which was dinner. While all of the kids were at dinner I was in the big hall with Les figuring out the list of music. Les was the worship and music director guy at the camp. After we ate, all of the kids came into the big hall and we started session. Session went on for a little bit with some music and then a word. After session the kids broke out into groups and then had coffee time before bed. Why they had coffee right before bed I can’t tell you, but they did. After coffee time we had bed time. It took a while to get these kids to bed but we finally did. That was the extent of the 5 days.
I’ll try to write more blogs and refine them a little bit, but I’ve been really busy and internet is not a thing that is very good so stay tuned!
