There goes God, blowing me away again…

So last Sunday God showed up and all I could do was soak it up and enjoy! Check out this story.

Chelsey and I had just finished our time at our hometown church where they were having a commissioning service for us. It was great and we felt very blessed to have so many people praying and backing us on this trip.

Next on the list of things to do that day was to go to my coworker’s son’s graduation party. It was a beautiful day and I was very tempted to skip out on this party but the more I thought about it I had a feeling that God wanted to do something with us at this party, so we went.

Now for a little background on this coworker and her son. A few months ago I found out that her son needed a car. I knew that I wouldn’t be needing mine for a year so I asked her if they might be interested in buying my car from me. My car is not all that nice to look at, although it runs great, so I thought $1000 sounded like a great deal. Chelsey and I had planned on putting that $1000 into our World Race Support account. But as the weeks leading up to this trip whizzed by, it seemed like this car deal was possibly going to fall through for one reason or another.

So now… fast forward back to us in the car on the way to this grad party. And as we get close I get this wild idea. WHAT IF WE JUST GAVE HIM MY CAR! Seemed like a nice thought at first and Chelsey agreed. So we tossed out some pros and cons and then prayed that God would show us what His thoughts were on the issue and that He would give us a clear sign concerning what to do.

We pull up to the party and begin to talk to my coworker, the one whose son we are now eating cake in honor of, about the car and ask if she still wants it. She then explains that they won’t be able to come up with the money so I should feel free to sell it to someone else.

Just then a friend of hers says, “You’re selling your car? How much are you asking for it?” She tells us that she has been looking for a car that’s cheap and she seemed very interested in it.

Now I know what you’re thinking… WOW! How cool that God provided someone else who wanted to buy the car from you. But that’s not exactly what God had in mind. As we talked with this other person, both Chelsey and I felt very clearly that God was impressing on our hearts: NO CHANCE! You will not be selling this car to anyone. This car is meant to be a free gift.

So with this knowledge, we went back to my coworker and told her that we really felt like God wanted us to give my car to her son for free. After some explaining about how we have been so blessed in our World Race fundraising and how we wanted to bless them, both my coworker and her son were very thankful and we headed back to our car to go home.

On the car ride home, Chelsey and I were feeling so blessed to be able to give this free gift! We were giddy! Then about 10 minutes later we find out that someone close to us had just donated $1000 to our trip!!! NO WAY! The exact amount that we were planning on selling my car for. We stepped out in obedience and faith and God blessed us right back! MAN!

And to top it off… before we got home I had a thought all of a sudden enter my heart that said, “If you continue to give Me the praise, I’ll continue to bless you.” Now I’m not one to say that I have heard from God many times, but this one was quite clear. Ok God, I’m gonna keep giving You the praise!

I know all of this was super lengthy but I really had to share this with you all. When God shows up this clearly I have to let everyone know!

Check out these verses in Matthew 10:7-8 where Jesus is sending out His disciples.
“As you go, preach this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven is near.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.” ~Jesus~

Me and Ethan with his new (used) car! Hope it’s a blessing to you bro!
