“You’re going to die”

That is what someone told me when I told them what I was going to do come the end of March. And it seems I am not the only one.  In the group video chat my teammates and I had the first of the year, my teammate Allie said she had someone tell her the same thing.

This makes me sad! It just means we need to go over what it means to follow God! To take risks! I love it when I meet someone who thinks that all Christians do is sit around a fire and sing kumbaya. Umm no, following Christ makes you face fears you did not even know existed!

But that is not the point, the point is this, God’s protection. God’s protection is a real thing. He protects those that follow Him. Before I go further maybe I should give you the definition that I am using for “protect.”

2 Thessalonians 3:3- “But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.”

Guards me against the evil one! Here is another!

2 Samuel 22:3- “My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold and my refuge, my savior; you save me from violence.”

My shield? Saves me from violence? I will tell you right now, best shield ever!

“But Luke, none of them say that He will protect you from death!?”

You’re right. And I don’t want Him to. Think about this for a second, if my life goal is to glorify God and to grow spiritually? 2 Peter 3:18- “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.”

And if we take in Philippians 1:21.

Philippians 1:21- “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”

Then does dying even make the list of things to be afraid of? Not really. As long as I belong to the Lord.

Romans 14:8- “For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s”

Don’t worry about my safety, I have God, I will be fine. Here is the real question, do you have God? It does not matter if you are in Ohio or 1,000 miles from home, God is there and he will protect you and give you refuge, even in the midst of the darkest storms. Let Him in.

Lion Chaser,

Luke
