Life has been moving quickly. Major events have passed like landscapes through a train window. I’m sitting in a mall in Costa Rica. Let me tell you how I got here.

I had my last days in Atlanta at a hotel airport soaking in teachings from Adventures at Launch. There I was reunited with my squad and taught about how to engage with ministries and people. Adventures is huge on helping the people who are already invested in the community so the influence we gain can be passed on and won’t fade away.

Right now I’m staying in a church called Iglesia Faro De Esperanza in Rio Azul.Sleeping Accommodations

I’ve been doing really well here but that’s mainly because “muy bien” is the only way I respond when people ask me how I am. We’ve done everything from construction, entraining little kids, and helping a small army of Koreans put on a health clinic for the locals. There were also a few YWAM nomads running around. It was a smorgasbord of multi culture christians giving their time and talents to help the people of Rio Azul.

It’s been incredible how different this trip has already been from expectations. I kept waiting for a huge wave of emotion and realization that I’ll be gone for 11 months to hit me. And it didn’t come. Don’t get me wrong, I miss my mom. A bunch. But I don’t want to be anywhere else.

Painting in Costa Rica like champs

I’m not just attending church here. I’m building relationship with the people and the kids. I’m also painting and cleaning the church building which instills a sense of ownership that I love. I can’t wait to see where this month leads me.

Also I have some people to thank for helping me get to where I am.
Matt and Tiffany, thank you for sending me off with love, support and story on my back.
Chris and Steve, thank you for believing that I’ll have courage even when things get hard.

All the love,

Luke
