Hello my friends and family!

I’m thrilled to be updating you from the great land of Cambodia. Here are the things that are going on with me and my team: We’re teaching english to all the wonderful kids here at New Hope orphanage. Everyone is diving into community. We’re all sharing stories, snacks, and baby wipes. Relationships are growing at the amazing rate of shared experience abroad. I wish you could see how amazing this group of young ones is. Their pursuit for growth and showing love is awe inspiring.

Here’s where I am:

I miss you all terribly. Being home for the holidays was a saturated cocktail of reverse culture shock, big questions, and overwhelming love from my from my people. While I was gone for eleven months, missing home wasn’t something I had to wrestle with. This time my emotions regarding home feel more like lucha libre event. My prayer has been that God helps me see past my own pain like Jesus did when he fed the 5,000. Jesus and his disciples we grieving the loss of their friend John the Baptist, when a crowd that was following them got hungry. Even though Jesus was in mourning and his disciples wanted to send the crowds away, Jesus choose to see past his pain and serve the people in need. He didn’t pretend that he wasn’t sad. He just chose to put his pain aside for a time to help those around him.

Even though I would love nothing more than to eat tacos with you all, I’m choosing to be with my team and the children here and Cambodia. I’m not pretending I don’t miss you. I do. I’m just choosing to be with people who are hungry.

Also, here are some videos of my journey so far!
