Hello everyone! We’ve been in swazi for about a month now and it’s been incredible. There have been good times and there have been times when I questioned if this was really where the Lord wanted me. The first month has been a struggle but I know this is where God wants me. Every day I wake up and find new joy from the lord. The town we are living in is very secluded and far from everything. My teams ministry is on the compound (home) so the only time we get to leave is for special trips. The meals have been amazing, my team is doing kitchen ministry with two incredible swazi women who love to laugh and spark conversations about Jesus and who He is to them. This has been hard at times because usually what our day looks like is waking up at 7 am, devotional at 8, breakfast (oatmeal and boiled eggs) at 8:30 and ministry from 10-3. At 3 o’clock we head to the kitchen to meet the swazi women and start cooking. We usually alternate the showers because believe it or not playing with kids all day is a messy task! After dinner we have team time and worship. The days are slow but the weeks go by so fast. This week my team and another team are working on a farm! Just a change of scenery. Bunk beds are a big thing here. I’m so thankful, it reminds me of my childhood!! The people are so friendly and love talking and teaching us their language (SeSwati). Off days (sabbath and Sunday) look a lot like going to a cafe and eating something besides a PB&J and maybe a milkshake if I’m feeling fancy, then we will go to the store and stock up on snacks and usually juice. Magnum bars are big here too!! Then we will head home and nap until dinner. Sunday’s are the same in the morning then at 10:30 we head to church (about a 10 minute walk). It’s different than home the worship lasts longer and there’s no judgment if you want to start dancing in the aisles! It is so fun! At first I didn’t know if I would like it but the Lord is teaching me to be joyful in new things! Okay that’s all I can think of for now.

With love,

Lucy
