This happened the other day. I was finishing up dinner at a Thai restaurant with my family (while also dreaming of the day when I would eat actual Thai food in Thailand on the World Race of course) and our server brought us fortune cookies with the check. I laughed as I read mine aloud. How appropriate. Going on the World Race is not just avoiding “business as usual,” but sprinting all out in the opposite direction. Nine to five? Unlikely. A cubicle? No way. Business casual attire? Only if I can hand wash it in a bucket.

Upon further reflection, however, I realized that the World Race is not just the opposite of “business as usual.” Taking it a step farther, I feel like “business” can be replaced with “life” on this fortune.  My idea of a successful life is not just doing what everyone before me has done, “the usual.” I want to follow the path that God has set out for me, not the path that seems good because it’s what people usually do. The World Race is the beginning of that path, the end of “life as usual.” I’m excited to see where it takes me. Where has it taken you?
