Dear Family and Friends:
Where do you feel called in the Lord’s kingdom? This is the question I began asking myself this past February. I was attending Ball State University for my second year, still unsure about where my life was headed. I was always a very diligent student with excelling grades and a hard work-ethic, but I found my grades slipping and passion for school dissipating. After changing my major several times, I did what I should’ve done from the beginning and turned to God. He helped me realize that astounding school success and a high-income job isn’t what He had in store for me. This realization turned my world upside down. I had always been success and money-driven, which is what made me such a great student. I didn’t know where to turn, but the Lord was ready to get to work.
I was lying awake late at night, ready to doze off, and out of nowhere the World Race was placed into my thoughts. I had only known about it from my cousin, Taylor, who had also done the World Race several years ago. I spent the next couple of hours browsing the World Race website, taking quizzes to see if it was right for me, and checking out other racers’ experiences. All signs pointed to yes. I committed right there. Obviously, there was a boatload of work to do and a long process to even get accepted, but I told the Lord I heard His call, and I was ready to accept. Have you ever done something and just felt our Heavenly Father smile down at you? It’s like He had been trying to reach me for so long, and when He finally did, He said “I’m so happy you’ve finally heard My calling for you, child.” In all my 21 years, I had never heard God speak back to me. That night, He did.
Now you might not have heard of the World Race, so what is it? It’s an 11-month Christian mission trip to 11 countries in different parts of the world. Each month of the mission trip is designated to a different country. Not only is the World Race a mission trip, but it is also an intensive discipleship program designed to help young adults like myself find their individual calling in the Lord’s kingdom. It could not be a more perfect opportunity for me. On this mission, my team and I will partner with local churches and ministries around the world to do the Lord’s work. Such work may include church planting, preaching the Gospel to unreached people groups, ministering to women and children trapped in sex-trafficking, ministering to those with special needs, teaching English, and spreading the Lord’s love to every end of His Kingdom.
There are many mountains I must first climb for this journey. One of the biggest being financial support, like with many missions organizations. To be fully funded by my departure on October 2nd, 2020, I must reach $17,700. This money will cover all of my essential field expenses for the duration of the trip, from food to travel to lodging. As I answer the Lord and trust in His calling, would you prayerfully consider supporting me and my journey with a monthly or one time gift?
Here in the next few days I will give you a call to answer any questions you might have. You can also visit my blog at lucasmoore.theworldrace.org to learn more about me and follow my journey! Thank you so much for however you choose to support me.
Yours in Christ,
Lucas Moore
