So, there’s been a theme running
through my head since arriving in New Zealand. Have I mentioned it’s
beautiful here? I mean, wow – clear blue water, green valleys, tall
mountains, sunshine and clouds – just amazing!

Seeing God’s beautiful creation all
around me reminds me of the song “Then Will the very Rocks Cry
Out.” I have sung it in choir with my church, and know most of the
words, but I couldn’t find where it was in scripture. I thought
surely it was in Psalms or Isaiah. After much searching, one of my
teammates finally helped me locate the passage in Luke. These were
words from Jesus himself. Jesus was riding a colt down the Mount of
Olives toward Jerusalem, and a large crowd of disciples began
praising him saying “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of
the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!” The Pharisees
asked Jesus to rebuke his disciples, and Jesus responded, “I tell
you, if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.” (Luke 19:38-40)

This keeps resonating in my head as I
look around at God’s marvelous creation. I can’t help but praise Him,
but even if I don’t, the very rocks will cry out to Him. I sometimes
wonder how people can’t believe in God. I mean, just look around, and
you can see there is a power much higher and greater than us. There
is no possible way all of this just appeared on accident. From the
intricacies of our bodies to the majesty of the tallest mountain,
God’s handiwork is displayed.

It’s simple to recognize this in New
Zealand. I remember my first week here, lying on my back looking at
the magnificent stars – they’ve never looked so bright and numerous
– to seeing the rolling hills and mountain peaks, as well as the
crystal clear blue water of the ocean, lakes and streams.
I challenge you to recognize God in all
you see. Whether it’s a sunset, stars, mountain, tree, bird or even
yourself. Praise God for who He is – the almighty creator of the
universe.
