This is why I love missions.
I think I have always had a
compassion for people. And I think I was always inspired by my dad.
When I was a kid, I remember telling my kindergarten teacher that my
dad was on the other side of the world. He was really involved in
missions in Europe, and if it was up to him, we would have moved there
as full-time missionaries. Although God had different plans for my
family, mission has been a part of my life since I could remember. When
I graduated high school, it became a real passion and desire of my
heart to be involved in missionary work. Over the past 3 years,
missions has overtaken me, and I can’t get enough of it. I don’t know
exactly where Brent and I belong, but I know that missions will always
be a big part of my life.
This little boy is named Khulekani. I met him in the fall of 2006 in
Swaziland, Africa, and he stole my heart. He became my little buddy,
and we were pretty inseperable. For a wedding present, my wonderful
husband told me that we would support him until he was old enough to
take care of himself. His mom is 31 and takes care of 9 kids all by
herself. If I could adopt him, I would in a minute. But, he is why I
love missions. I love being the arms of Jesus to a little boy that
doesn’t get held. I love showing the love of Christ to my brothers and
sisters in other countries. I can’t wait to build relationships and
continue growing into the woman of God he created me to be.
