God where are you? A question that is all to commonly said in situations of emergency. We live in a broken, fallen world. Tragedies happen every single day. Some happen of natural causes, and some are even man made done out of anger. So, to answer your question – God still reigns. He is still watching over us. He has a plan.
I’m sure as many of you know, my hometown of Canton, Texas was severely hit by a multitude of tornados on Saturday, April 29th. I was fortunate enough for all of my family to be alright, as well as our home. For many people in my town though, this isn’t the case. People that I am all too familiar with – friends & acquaintances lost everything they owned, including the lives of their loved ones. They are left looking at the slabs where their homes use to be. Where they’ve celebrated holidays, brought their first child home from the hospital, bought as newlyweds, etc. The worldly lives of people have been totally interrupted. Now, this is more than sad. I know. My family lost our house to a tornado, as well as a fire that burned it to the ground on April 24, 2010. This kind of pain is hear trenching. You wonder if its something that you did wrong. Maybe God is “punishing you”. Let me assure of this though, your Father loves you. Your Father does not want to see you squirm in fear or sadness. He wants you to be able to thrive. So if you’re a victim, or maybe just some one who is at ground zero of their life and you’re reading this – just know; He is going to make you thrive. You will be well again. You will overcome this trial. Back to the main point though, you may have been asking the question – “God where are you?” Let me tell you this, He made a promise to never leave, nor forsake us. He cares for all the birds of the sky, the animals of the land, and the fish of the sea. the Bible tells us that we are of much greater importance then those creatures. We are God’s image creation. God has a plan for his dearest of creation. We definitely do not understand why tragedies happen like they do, but I can assure you today brother/sister that he is putting things together for your good. God is going to take your stress of tomorrow, and redirect it for good. A little secret, all you have to do is TRUST Him.
I am overwhelmed with the hospitality that has been shown to my dearest hometown. If you have donated clothing, opened your home to a family in need, brought food, cleaned or salvage the streets/homes that were affected, or helped in any way – Thank you on behalf of Canton. The enemy may have tried to take us down, and that storm may have been big – But Satan, let me tell you this. My God is bigger. Together we stand with Jesus guarding us knowing that we are more than conquerors.
