I get it. The thought of Jesus coming to the earth to die for every single of us sinners sounds so drastic and impossible. But wow! How he has showed that to the strangers around me the past few days. For the last couple of days my team and i have had weekend off for the first time this month – so we decided to make the trip to a nearby city (8 hours away) called Pokhara. One of our contacts came with along with us; and boy he RADIATES Jesus. So to make a long story short—yesterday our contact came across another missions team who was visiting Pokhara and he went out to lunch with them and even began singing out to the Lord at the restaurant they were eating out at. // And SO. Last night we went out to dinner at the cutest little asian restaurant where we sat on red floral floor cushions to eat rather than chairs. There were lights hanging around the room and the staff was so friendly with the biggest smiles wanting to please us. We went around the table and decided to lift each other up with encouragement one by one. There were happy tears, there was a whole lot of love, and Jesus was radiating. Midway through this conversion a small group of backpackers came in and decided to sit at the table behind us. Turns out one of them had eaten at the same restaurant as our contact for lunch and had heard him singing praises to the Lord. So as we were getting ready to go—one of the guys called out to our contact and told him he wanted to sing again; but he said this with mockery like he thought it was funny. But our contact saw an opportunity for the Lord to step in, so he said of course and asked us to sing with him. We began to sing the popular christian medley, “How great is our God.” and in the beginning they were laughing at us—but we worshipped our Jesus regardless of mockery. Then—that’s when the cards changed a bit. Our ministry host asked the small group of backpackers if we could pray for them. We collected the groups prayer request and then we all prayed out loud for them at the same time. At the end of our prayer several of them were in tears. They told us how our worship and relationship with the Lord was absolutely beautiful. We sang again with them this time—the song, “How he loves us.” At the end of the song, we expressed to them how much He truly does love them, and how He was truly for each of them. We left the restaurant after that feeling filled up by the spirit, and with the realization that even when we’re on ‘vacation time,’ we are stilled called to live missional lives. Jesus doesn’t take vacations from loving me, therefore i will proclaim the Gospel everywhere i go—regardless of evangelism laws, language barriers, or any hinderance whatsoever. Let this be a lesson, that WHEREVER you are—whether that’s school, walmart, Africa, or absolutely anywhere that as believers we are on the missions field. Sing praises to the Lord in public, don’t be ashamed of Him. He will glorify your being mocked. He is truly such a good Father! Thanks for reading!!
