I found myself somewhere I didn’t think I would find myself on the race. Since being in Malawi, I am staying AND doing ministry at African Bible College in Lilongwe, Malawi. I am super excited to live here for two months but before I get to tell you that let me update you since the last time I wrote to y’all. Last month was a month like no other— Literally! Last month was what is known as MANistry Month. I lived with all the guys on my world race squad. 12 guys. ONLY guys. What an experience that was in itself haha. This was a challenging but such a fruitful month. For the whole month all the guys and me lived in the bush of Africa. One whole month, 12 guys — Living in a Tent. This month grew me. This month tore me. I learned so much from each of the guys last month. They all have so much to bring to the table. I learned things like servitude, discipline, and discipleship. Definitely not an easy month, but a fruitful one. Something one of my squad leaders said to my squad at Debrief was, “I hope that the Race isn’t something that you look back on at the end of the nine months and think, ‘Wow! That was the best nine months of my life!’ But that we look back and see growth. See freedom. See Jesus.” Thats my prayer. Thats my hope. I want to look back at this year and see growth, see love — given and received, i want to see fruitfulness, and of all these freedom. I want to be so free from the world, my sin, and satan at the end of this thing; and believe me, I am working my way there inch by inch!
BUT YEAH.
Then Debrief happened. I spent 5 days in probably one of the most beautiful places in Malawi. We debriefed in Cape Maclear — right on the beach of Lake Malawi. This was a great five days filled with fun, breaking shackles of sin, squad worships, and..
NEW TEAMS.
To provide more room for us to grow and have a new beginning on the race, our leadership team decided to do team changes on our squad. I was nervous, excited, sad, and happy all at the same time. But wow! My new team is amazing. I am now on an all guys team with some of my best pals here on the race. For those of you familiar with my last team; Josh AND Bradley are both apart of my new team. I am so blessed to be able to see them grow even more so in the continuation of the race. They are my brothers. I have seen Josh grow in patience and obedience. He is one of the most intentional people I have ever met. I have seen Bradley grow in so many ways. I have seen him be more contentious of others. I have seen him pick up the little things. I have seen him grow in patience and servitude. Then — the new ones to me. Bo; who shows amazing leadership, care, and guidance. Bo is somebody I honestly never expected to be friends with but during ministry we ended up becoming friends, and now he’s on the way to becoming one of my best friends. So much respect for this guy. Then there’s Garrett. So many things to say about this guy. He’s one of the best writers I know. So confident. He has so much wisdom. An awesome guy who has so much to bring to the table. Lastly, Tanner. Tanner continuously leaves me in awe of the way he worships the Lord. He is constantly looking to serve the Lord in new ways. He is someone I find so much trust in. Someone who values being a man of his word so thoroughly that it has become more important to me. All great guys.
So now.. I’m at college!!!!
I always hit you guys with the clickbait so naturally I had to make this a big deal BUT. Yeah. I am serving along side African Bible College. Thats right, COLLEGE. A real life college with an American Education System. Not gonna lie, I haven’t really lived at all nice the whole race. But these two months are different than previous months on the race for me. I’m living on a beautiful college campus. African Bible College is home to the first gymnasium in all Malawi. In our “huts” (which by the way are not what you’re thinking. They’re more like brick buildings with straw roofs.) BUT ALL I WANTED and I mean I PRAYED for this — was a real bed, and a shelf to put my things. And guess what!!! I got both of those things + a mosquito net!!! So basically!!! I am living GOOD. I am thankful. I definitely did not expect this in any way. But wow. African Bible College has my heart. I am currently an admin and library aid!!! And I am LOVING IT. This is going to be a good two months. I am so excited for what the Lord is going to do here.
Thanks for reading — I know this was a long one. Y’all are so loyal to me.
