Coming into month three in Thailand I was hoping that we would be doing ministry with those involved in sex trafficking. The girls would talk to the women and Greg and I would talk to the men that come to buy a night with these women. I quickly learned that I need to stop setting expectations for my race.

Business is ministry. That is what this month will look like. Sharing the love of Jesus through a business. To be honest, at first that sounded really boring. The word business isn’t very intriguing compared to saving broken men and women from a world of lies and sexual sin. However, our first couple days of ministry were incredible.

A little background about Thailand: It is a predominately Buddhist country with very few Christians; It is not illegal to speak about Jesus here, but most people don’t want to hear about Him.

With that, our hosts run an after school English learning program called A Mane. They show the love of God through their actions and not necessarily their words.

1 John 3:18 says, “Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and truth.” They are witnessing to so many people simply by living how we are called to live. Through their actions they are set apart, a living mystery and testimony to all those they encounter.

Business is ministry. Sometimes we put ministry in a box. If it’s not feeding the poor or clothing the naked, well then that can’t be ministry. We are so wrong though.

Every Christian is called to live a life of missions and the Lord places us where we will be the most effective for the kingdom. So why do I think that there is only one way to serve the Lord in all of Thailand?

Don’t get me wrong, those entangled in the sex trafficking industry need so much love and the Lord hears their cries, but He has not called my team to that specific ministry. The fact is, everyone in the world wants to feel love, everyone is broken and everyone needs the Lord. Not just a certain group of people.

Business is ministry and alongside everything else we do. I no longer operate under the lie that I can’t be the hands and feet of Jesus if I am not halfway across the world. We are given an opportunity to minister to those around us in all that we do, everywhere we go, in everyday that has been ordained for us.
