Hello! As I begin my journey to Africa in the spring, I thought it best to introduce myself first. I am currently a student at Indiana Wesleyan University where I am studying to earn my bachelor’s degree in youth ministry. God has placed so many amazing influencers in my life as a young adult and I know that he is calling me to give back to the next generation in that way.

I am incredibly excited to embark on this journey. A mission trip to Africa is something that was placed on my heart during a time of prayer and fasting while at college. At first, I was rather apprehensive and then I quickly realized that it would be foolish to continue to resist God’s call. I have a little bit of experience with international mission trips, taking two trips to Belize, but nothing as big as the adventure that lies ahead of me. This trip will last from January 26th to April 23rd and travel to three different countries. Our team will be traveling to South Africa, Lesotho, and Swaziland, serving in local missions to meet the needs of the communities that we will be living in. If you feel it on your heart to give, you can fundraise by clicking “donate” and the end of the fundraising progress bar, directly above this blog.

Most recently, God has been teaching me a lot about being present and not missing the opportunities that surround me in every day life. He has been teaching me to love and embrace where I am and to honor His name in all that I do. Not only has the Lord been teaching me about being present, He has also been teaching me that He is always present, even when life seems as if it’s at it’s worst. Whether I am scrubbing the toilets in the bath house at camp, or praising Him during worship every morning, He is there and He is moving within me.

Leading up to the trip, I will be posting monthly blogs to keep you all updated on my life and my time preparing for what I would say is God’s biggest calling on my life so far. It is my hope and my prayer that I can honor His name through my words in this blog and through my actions in preparation to serve.
