My dear friends, family, and fellow followers of Christ,
First and foremost I pray that this letter finds you well and immensely blessed. I am very grateful for this opportunity to share with you about the season God is calling me into. I have been accepted to an eleven month long missions trip called the World Race. During the course of these eleven months I will be traveling to and living in eleven different countries from around the world while serving and ministering to the people of that nation.
Starting out the Race is Central America, where I will be in Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala. From there I will be going to Western Africa to Cote d’lviore, which is also known as the Ivory Coast, Ghana, and Burkina Faso. After leaving Africa I will be spending a month in both the Philippines and Indonesia before leaving South East Asia for Eastern Europe, where I will visit Romania and Kosovo. My route will come to it’s end in the country of Greece, and once leaving there I will return home to the States.
The World Race is organized by an interdenominational organization called Adventures in Missions, or AIM. AIM was established by a man named Seth Barnes and their headquarters is in Gainesville, Georgia. The desire of AIM is to mobilize and equip a generation to follow the Great Commission in the style of the Acts church; living in small community and serving one another all while going out into the nations to serve the least of these.
My own story with the Race began in an unexpected way. I had heard about the Race from a friend around four to five years ago, and at the time it seemed like it could be fun, but I didn’t give it too much thought. Fast forward to just a couple of months ago and I was praying to God about my life. I have only recently found the career path that I want to pursue, yet even though I felt released to pursue that path and use that gifting for a career and to honor God, I felt Him leading me to something more, to a season of growth.
Psalm 37:4 says, “Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires and petitions of your heart.” Growing up in church I had learned from a young age that I was to tithe a percentage of my income back to the Lord as a gift and I have tithed ever since. Now, though, I felt led to tithe my time and service, putting God before my own plans for a year of ministry and personal growth. A year of fully relying on God for everything all while I become a vagabond minster, backpacking around the world to make disciples of all nations.
At this point I would like to ask for your support in two ways: First and foremost I would ask for your prayer support for myself and my squad as we take the remainder of this year to prepare and especially as we depart onto the Race in January. Secondly I would like to ask for your support financially. I have to fundraise a total of $16,617, which covers all of my field expenses and insurance for the year. Apart from the cost of the Race there are expenses for buying gear, paying for immunizations, and setting back extra money for being abroad, covering bills while I’m away, and for when I return to the States, so any extra money that is contributed after my goal is met will be put towards one of those expenses.
As I follow God’s call to the nations I ask that you would prayerfully consider supporting me on this journey.
Thank you and God bless,
Logan Stovall
