"But we will devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word." Acts 6:4

This was the mission of the apostles almost 2,000 years ago, and it still should be ours today. To DEVOTE ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word. Dictionary.com defines devote as "to concentrate on a particular pursuit". Not to go about these things in a lackluster manner but to concentrate in the pursuit. NOT TO BE DISTRACTED. And boy is that tough. We DEVOTE our time to what pleases us, we DEVOTE our money to what we want, and we DEVOTE our energy to what drives us. Unfortunately, too often those things are rooted in selfish desires. Fear of stepping out of our comfort zone, fear of not having physical comfort, and the habitual desire to be on our own time are things that keep us from being DEVOTED fully to the Lord…

All I gotta say is praise the Lord for Fuge Camps, because I had been stuck in a selfish mindset until this week. I am a Rec Director at Fuge Camps this summer and we had our program training this week. (Fuge is an awesome camp for middle school and high school students! Life's are changed here y'all! Check it out if you never have! http://www2.lifeway.com/fuge/ ). Being able to talk with the people who are going to be leading camps all over the United States was super encouraging. I'm stoked outta my mind to see how the Lord is going to use so many staffers to impacts thousands and thousands of students lives this summer.

This week was such an incredible reminder about what this life is about. To give praise to his glorious grace as Paul puts it in Ephesians 1:6. To serve others and love as Jesus loved (even when it's not convenient for you) To put away all selfish ambition and kneel at the foot of the cross and let God lead (even when your stressed and want to take over). To share the good news of Jesus Christ from Greenville, SC (where I will be working camp) to the ends of the earth. To DEVOTE ourselves to a life pleasing to the Lord.
