So one of my new favorite things is to ask for the ridiculous and then run after it. A couple weeks ago, it was asking for favor to enter into the royal palace and meet the king of Cambodia and be able to pray for him. While that didn’t come to fruition during my time in Phnom Penh, it didn’t stop me from asking for something else this week.
I spent my last week with team Poaday out in a village in Cambodia. One of the first days I was with them we passed a military base that was close to the host home where we were staying. As we were walking by I was hit with my next ridiculous thing I wanted to ask for. So I shared with the team.
‘This week we are going to go into the military base and pray for the highest ranking official here.’
Their response was one of enthusiasm. However, they began to share with me how they’ve already asked a guard about going onto the base and apparently the guard said no they aren’t allowed to.
‘Oh..okay,’ I replied somewhat sarcastically as I wasn’t satisfied with their response.
A few days later we were walking through the village praying for and with families. Our first stop was Chun’s house. She is a woman that experienced God’s healing earlier in the week and actually rid her house of all buddhist paraphernalia after experiencing the love and power of the King of kings.
Heading out of her house we took a left down the bush lined dirt path…right towards the military base. Remembering the ridiculous thing I had asked for, I walked straight up to the security guard keeping watch at the front gate. About ten feet out I turned to the team, said a quick prayer of favor, and then looked the guard in the eyes and asked if we could come in. We glared at each other for a second and then my eyes shifted to his hands which began to lower the security chain to the ground. We were in!
Aw kuhns (thank you in Khmer) were exchanged and we confidently began to walk onto the property. The next stop: the main building. It was about a 200 yard straight shot from the gate to the main building. Along the way we slowly walked while praying over the land.
‘How will we know who is the highest ranking official here?’ Someone asked.
‘We will ask,’ I responded. Which seemed ridiculous since no one speaks English that far out in the village. So we were walking and praying for The Lord to make it clear.
We finally reached the main building and began to walk up the steps into the lobby. Now the only military personnel we had seen till this point were soldiers who walked around the property in all camouflage. But as soon as we walked into the main building, a door opened on the opposite wall. The door to what appeared to be a conference room. A conference room that was full of men wearing uniforms that were not camouflage but high ranking military apparel.
The men begin to walk out of the room to find a group of five Americans standing there, praying over the building and waiting by the grace of God to pray over them. As the men are shuffling out we begin to shake their hands, pray for them, and declare God’s love over them. One of the last men out wore a uniform that was different than the rest and seemed to be a man of more power and authority. He walked right up to me and shook my hand. He spoke very little English so I just got to speak life and truth in Jesus’ name over him.
About that time another security guard came in to break the party up. It was time to go.
But not before God allowed us to walk into a Cambodian military base (that was prohibited), and have the grace and favor to enter the main building at the same time the high ranking officials meeting was over so that we could pray over them. Wow.
The Father isn’t afraid of our big prayers and desires. Sometimes we need to remember…OUR GOD CREATED EVERYTHING! What if we live that way?! Unafraid to ask for big things. To ask for the ridiculous and run after it. The same God that shut the mouth of lions and protected men from a raging furnace is READY to pave the way into Fortune 500 board rooms, professional locker rooms, and ISIS meetings so that His glory may be known. How much are we willing to ask for? I encourage each of you to pray and ask how you can impact the people of influence in your city for the Kingdom.
