There is something to be said about not looking backwards but continuing to press forward to the finish line. Like in baseball I had a first and third base coach who I relied upon for instruction. While running the bases i could not afford the time to look behind me and see what the infielders were doing. Instead I put my trust in coaches and did as they said. I have found this also be true in my spiritual walk with Christ. Looking back at the past will provide very little benefit to me if my goal is to move forward. My spiritual coaches include friends, family and people I meet whom I respect that have a better understanding of things I want to learn. It is not to say that everything in my past is negative, because it is my past that has brought me to the place I am today, it is just important for me to not get caught up in thinking about things I wish I had done differently or dwell on mistakes I had made. Instead I recognize that everyday is a gift and everyday is an adventure. In order not to miss out on what God has in store for me, I must be fully in the moment giving 100 percent to the task at hand. I know that everything does not always happen the way we foresee them, i.e teams get rearranged, trains get delayed and plans change. But even though life throws you a curve ball it doesn't mean you can't hit it out of the park.
I am currently in my first real week of mission work here in Bulgaria. My team and I have been blessed with a great place to stay and many amazing opportunities to serve. We are helping Mission Possible put the final touches on their women’s facility. The passion the pastor and his team have for their ministry makes the work seem easy. I have come to realize that this is their everyday life and am honored that I get to be apart of it if only for a minute.
Last week I was in Romania getting reacquainted with my team (all of whom are amazing) while exploring Bucharest. It was a great start to what is going to be an incredible year.
