I got back from training camp almost 4 weeks ago.

It’s been 26 days.

26 days to get used to normal life, enjoy last moments with my friends and family, sleep on a bed, have a normal diet again, and think about how God transformed me at camp.

And for some reason I just couldn’t put it into words. I procrastinated quite a bit and I’m pretty sure I’m the only one who hasn’t wrote a blog about training camp. I was dreading writing this blog because I felt changed, redeemed, and my heart was so full that writing this blog about my experience seemed like a difficult task.

This past week I got my film back from pictures I took at training camp, and looking back at them made me miss my squad mates even more. They really got me thinking about my 10 days spent in Gainesville, Georgia.

I can attempt to put these 10 days at training camp into words.

Well, It was hot and I mean HOT. Walking 3 miles with 30 lbs of equipment in the Georgia heat wasn’t easy. I took a total of 3 bucket showers in the 10 days…you could say I was dirty. I also exclusively used a port-a-potty that was basking in the sun. It smelt bad, but we all did so it didn’t matter.

Now let’s get to the serious matters.

Let me start off with I was extremely anxious to go to camp and meet everyone. I felt like I would be the only one who wasn’t a perfect Christian all their lives, who has made mistakes, and was broken. After 10 days of bonding with my 42 new brothers and sisters, I found out no one was a perfect Christian, everyone has made mistakes, and we are all broken but made whole through Christ. Everyone I met is so genuine, authentic, and more than open to sharing their own testimonies.

On the 7th day of camp I was put into my team that I will be living and doing ministry with. We were sent loose into the streets of Gainesville, Georgia to have some team bonding. As team bonding, 3 of the 6 of us got tattoos (sorry for telling you after the fact, mom). Also I found out I am my team’s treasurer, so I will be the one dealing with monthly budgets, spreadsheets, and other fun money stuff! Woo (AP stats should come in handy, thanks Mr.Herb)! That night was a really happy night for me. I ended up crying just because I was so happy with who I was going to be living with and I was overwhelmed with love. Seriously, I mean it when I say my heart was so full.

So many things happened at camp but I think my words can’t explain the challenging, yet rewarding time I had. So here are the film pictures that I took (a lot of hammock pictures, but hammocks(HAM-MOCK) took up a majority of my limited free time).

I had a great time at training camp and I can’t wait to leave for Atlanta to launch on September 7th! First country is Costa Rica!

PS if you’re still reading this please prayerfully consider donating because I need to be at $10,000 by August 19th and I am currently at $8,500.
